I love tattoos.


More specifically, I love seeing women with tattoos.


If done professionally, and done well, tattoos can be a beautiful decoration to your body. While most people shun tattoos for religious and personal reasons, I think tattoos are a great way to express yourself and show the world your personality.

My generation definitely has an addiction to tattoos. And your favorite celebrity probably does too. But what about in fashion? Certainly tattoos have no place in the world of the bourgeois and sophistication, right?

Not so fast! You would actually be surprised to find out that many high fashion supermodels are starting to mark up their sleek and thin bodies now more than ever.

Many models go for small, cutesy tattoos that aren’t noticeably visible, while some may choose to go all the way out with bigger ink in multiple places on their bodies.

In the world of high fashion, tattoos are looked at as tasteless and ugly, instead taking away from the beautiful details of the clothes. However, tattoos on models can also add to the mystique and allure of the fashion industry and supermodel.

 Whatever the case, tattoos are fun and exciting, and can serve as accessories in the fashion industry, if used carefully. If you're thinking about your own tattoos, I say go for it! Just remember ladies, it’s important to remember that you are adding something permanent to your body so make sure you keep it classy and tasteful.

Modern-Day Hippies

With classes ending and finals just around the corner for some of us, summer is just right around the corner. And you know what that means. Break out your daisy dukes and get ready for the happiest, freest months of your life again. Ahhh yes. Don’t you just love this time of year?

There’s something about summer that makes my soul feel like bursts of joy are exploding in me every day. No disrespect to spring or winter, but the combination of 80-degree temperatures and lazy beach days is what I live for.

Summer always brings out the best fashion, in my opinion. Yes, I know, summer doesn’t actually require very many clothes (if any at all. we all know a heat wave is coming!). But in fashion, it has never been about how many items of clothing you are wearing that determine your style. It’s the person and the energy of the outfit that makes summer fashion unique.

Which brings me to my next point. I love summer fashion because to me, summer fashion represents everything about my favorite time in history: the hippie culture of the 1960s. From the wavy, messy beach hair to the worn-and-torn shirts to the flower headbands, the fashion of the 1960s always seems to make a huge return on runways and in clothing stores around this time of year.

One of the year’s biggest music festivals, Coachella, is an amazing place to witness fashion and the resurrection of hippie style in our culture. I am always inspired by many of the outfits and looks from each year's festival. 

I like to call it effortless cool. Takes very little time to put together, but you can still manage to put together a chic ensemble none-the-less. So it’s no wonder that designers and fashion magazines are all starting to catch onto this style.

In case you've been living under a rock, hippie culture is back, just with a twist. Instead of LSD and acid, our generation is hooked on social networking and communicating via Twitter, texts, and email. Tattoos and piercings are more prominent. Being a free spirit never looked so modern!

Honestly, if it was up to me, I would dress just like this all the time. Actually, if it was up to me, I would probably just be naked....but that's besides the point! There's something about wearing ripped jean shorts, a bright, neon tank, laying underneath a warm summer night in a hammock. Delicious.

Color Block it up!

If you know me, you know how much I love colors. And not just any old colors. I’m talking bold, bright, in-your-face, neon colors.

If I could literally be a walking representation of this, I would do it in a heartbeat.

From the headband on my head to the nail polish on my toes, I am a firm believer that indulging in loud and funky colors can help drastically improve your mood and your outside appearance. So, it only makes sense that this season’s newest trend is one that I am particularly excited about.

As the weather gets warmer and the sun shines a little bit more this season, your wardrobe should be able to do the same. Color-blocking is the perfect way to add some spunk to your closet and your lifestyle. However, if you aren’t careful, you may end up looking like a super box of Crayola crayons threw up all over you.

Here are a few tips to help you color your world!

The trick to a successful color block is to mix colors you would not normally pair together. But don’t get too excited yet ladies (and colorful gents)! There is a method to all this colorful madness.

The best colors to color block with are:

1. Colors directly next to each other (i.e. yellow and yellow-orange; yellow and yellow-green; violet and blue-violet, etc.)


2. Colors that form right (90 degree) angles with each other (i.e. yellow and red-orange; blue and violet-red; green and orange, etc.)


3. Colors directly across from each other (i.e. yellow and violet; blue and orange; red and green, etc.)


4. Colors that form a T (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red; yellow, violet, and red-orange; yellow, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)


5. Colors that form an X (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow, violet, blue-green, and red-orange, etc.)

If you’re a little on the shy side and aren’t quite ready to dive into the sea of jewel toned colors, remember, color-blocking does not have to be strictly limited to your clothing! You can color block with your accessories, such as pairing a royal purple heel with a burnt orange clutch. And if that’s still a little too bold for your taste, try experimenting with makeup products and eye shadows!

Whatever you do, remember to be daring and have fun. Don’t be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone and experiment with what’s in your closet. That’s what colors are here for! And who knows, after playing around with vibrant colors all day, you may never want to see another piece of black or white clothing again.
